A 20-year old Justice man died early Monday morning from a possible overdose
of the popular party drug ecstasy, authorities said.Peter Wilczek of 8814 W. 76th Place was pronounced dead at 5:21
a.m. Monday at LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange, a spokesman for the Cook County
medical examiner’s office said.An autopsy on Wilczek was scheduled for today, the spokesman said.Justice Deputy Police Chief Jerry Carter said Wilczek and his wife went to a
party at an unknown location in Chicago on Sunday. At the party, Wilczek’s
wife saw him ingest ecstasy, police said. The two left the party about 7 p.m. Carter said.Wilczek’s wife woke up about 3:30 a.m. Monday to find her husband
unconscious in a bathtub in their home. Wilczek was taken to the hospital, where
he was pronounced dead.Carter said Justice police did not find any drugs in the couple’s home.Wilczek’s death remained under investigation Monday evening.Sgt. Robert Cargie of the Chicago Police Department said he was unaware of
any ecstasy parties in the city over the weekend. He said that in most overdoses
where use of ecstasy is reported, a toxicological test shows that the victim
actually overdosed on some look-alike drug that he or she believed was ecstasy. |
